EMERGENCY WAR POST 22/10/23: zion as a critical punctum
post by gur dimei

haven’t posted for a while, and now for the war I come back. I have seen in the past days the recent speech of brigadier general Gal Hirsch. he is one of shimon naveh’s “children”, and it’s very visible in the speech, in which he drops some SOD buzzwords such as “Israeli war machine”, “re-arranging areas”, “swarming terrorists” and more beautiful mumbo-jumbo of military urbanism.
one thing very odd to me is that he said “the IDF is not an offensive military”, which is odd – because defensive milieus are not very “war-machine”-like. the defensive milieu tends to massify and crystallize over a certain centrum, and not to evolve or manipulate its surroundings (although the IDF used to be an army of deep aggressions [a real war-machine], our apparatus suppressed that tendency). deleuze&guattari note that the integrating gravitational tendency of the organic (rather than somatic) state (such as Israel) to withdraw into itself (as in the disengagements from gaza and south lebanon, which both turned out to be mistakes) creates oppressive milieus, but also – as we learn from Israel’s wars – doesn’t protect the state’s order and stability from being challenged.
I tend to think deleuze&guattari are applicable on the operational micro-level – deconstructive military architectures, destratifications of refugee-camp labyrinths and enaction of surveillance plateaus, constrained and coinciding guerrilla settler-mechanospheres, etc. – but war-machines inevitably fall, which is important to remember (although they rise up next, as in an eternal procession of Israel between judgment and greatness, an eternal cycle of entrenching-exilegoing-returning).
I do also tend to think that we have our small war-machines, which should be empowered and enlarged: the settler enclaves, potentially hilltop-guerrillas and gangster-rapists, constrained noise in service of zionite macro-construction. also, our military (being better trained, or at least used to be) can be turned into a war-machine, which will – instead of attempting to lock terrorist movement – attempt to unleash the terrorist nomads, “dance-with-them”, collide-combine-concur, and lead them to destruction using manipulative “micro-aggressions” and thermodynamic war-juggling.

in vavo R”Y eybeschuetz elucidates that zion is the critical punctum (“nekuda”) of the tzimtzum, in which divine activity reaches its fulfillment. the land of israel is an infinite total activity, a glorious structure upon which the world is built. but for eybeschuetz, the nekuda is a gravitational center. will we, israelis, learn how to stop defending, stop contracting, and begin becoming a war-machine? it is time for love and greatness, we have to grow and kill. amen.
but it is good that some people have this idea in their head (as far as they may be from our impotent general staff), that you gotta talk to terrorists in a language they know (or, really don’t know..) – turn the war (as well as the non-war) into an ongoing engagement between fluid wholes, a struggle of two social-territorial bodies striving to integrate elements one from the other, assert possession over eachother’s spatial resources, condense and diffuse, advance and regress.
there’s a plenum of other things that can be said about this subject, and I believe, nevertheless, that at least some people in our high command are aware of these issues and consider them. but in any case, these were my 2 cents about this matter at hand.
